A1 Improvements for Northumberland
The most recent proposal has emerged from the Highways Agency on the planned improvements to the A1 trunk road between Morpeth and Berwick. The information released includes the proposed routes of the dual carriageway between Morpeth & Felton and Alnwick & Ellingham as well as overtaking sections and new junctions between Ellingham & Berwick.
The Highways Agency will be looking to commence talks with land owners, farmers and residents and businesses along the routes to work towards the Compulsory Purchase Procedure. They will be holding ‘awareness events’ on the following days:
Monday 23 May

Tuesday 24 May
Time: 10 am – 7 pm
Venue: Berwick Town Hall, Marygate, Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland TD15 1BN
