George F White Help Raise Funds For UTASS
Fundraisers braved soaring temperatures to complete a 13 kilometre sponsored walk in order to boost funds for a charity which supports rural farmers.
About 20 people took part in the event, which raised £1,122 for Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS), based in Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham.
The walkers included members of staff from rural estate agent George F White and UTASS supporters around a circular route taking in the magnificent High Force waterfall.
Diane Spark, UTASS Project Manager, said: “It was so hot on the day we did it – probably the hottest of the summer.” She said the money will help cover day-to-day running costs. “It costs a lot to do the basics for some 450 farm households – even just sending out mail – but it is the basics that are the essential bit really.”
Robyn Peat, a partner with George F White, said the company planned to continue its support for UTASS having already taken out adverts within their newsletter and office.
A future walk is being planned for next spring, starting and finishing in Holwick. Anyone interested in taking part should contact UTASS on 01833 641010.
