Agricultural business student joins us on placement
We’re delighted to announce that James Thompson has joined the business on a year’s work placement. James, who has so far completed three years of a four year course in agricultural business at Newcastle University, will be based at our Shiptonthorpe office.
During his placement, James will work with the Shiptonthorpe team gaining hands on experience for all aspects of farm and agricultural business. He will learn the ropes on how to, for example, prepare business plans, feasibility studies and funding briefs on behalf of clients.
Simon Britton, who leads the Shiptonthorpe office, said: “Our team deals with the full scope of farm business issues from contract farming agreements and joint ventures to budgets, cash flows and Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), which will provide James with an excellent stepping stone into the industry following his graduation, providing real and useful skills that are essential to success in the sector.”
Talking about his work placement, James added: “It’s great to be offered a year’s placement at George F. White as I think it will provide vital experience in the field of work I wish to enter when I leave university. I am looking forward to learning all about agricultural business and getting to know the team, how it works and how client service is delivered across the wide range of issues that they deal with and manage on a daily basis.”
