Jonathan’s second year as CAAV chairman
One of our partners, Jonathan Wallis, has been appointed the chairman for the Northumbria and Cumbria Branch of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) for the second year running.
It’s a unique move by the specialist professional body as normally a new chairman is appointed each year, but Jonathan Wallis is set to continue in the role for another 12 months.
CAAV members are agricultural and rural valuers that provide professional advice and valuation expertise on issues affecting the countryside.
These range from tenancy matters, sales and purchase of farms and land to taxation issues, conservation matters and farming structures.
Jonathan said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my position as chairman and took the role seriously from day one – it’s an absolute privilege to continue in my role for a second year.
“A key objective in the last 12 months has been to support younger members within the branch, with the help of the rest of the committee.
“As a result of our combined efforts, six of the 11 candidates from our branch passed the national examinations to qualify as a Fellow of the Association. Encouragingly, the pass rate within our branch was above the national average.
“What’s more, three of our younger members have just recently joined the committee which provides them with the opportunity to develop and take on official roles in the future.”
James Dick, junior vice-president at CAAV, added: “Jonathan, with the help of the committee, has done a tremendous amount of work over the past year, working proactively to arrange a number of events across our region including CPD events at Ward Hadaway, Hay & Kilner and Cartmell Shepherd.
“Over the next 12 months, Jonathan will be leading the committee in their efforts to help younger members of the branch.”
