Property Professionals Are Proud To Back Apprenticeships
The apprenticeship scheme run by Property Professionals George F White has been so beneficial – both to the apprentices as well as the business – that the company is looking for a third and fourth apprentice to join them.
George F White, who operate from Wolsingham, Barnard Castle, Bedale, Shiptonthorpe and Alnwick, have created two new apprenticeship posts in their Wolsingham and Alnwick offices because managers have been so impressed with the performance of their two existing apprentices, Aaron Dodd, and Larissa Patterson.
Aaron joined George F White in September 2012, aged 18, straight from school with three A levels. He knew he wanted a career in property and opted out of university as he was keen to get on the career ladder straight away. He’s been studying towards a City and Guilds Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration through Bishop Auckland College. George F White offered him a permanent contract in October this year and he is now undertaking further training to become a property and lettings valuer.
Aaron says: “I really enjoy the work and everyone at George F White encourages me in my career. I won’t have the worry of student debt and I’ll have made a head start in the working world, unlike friends who are still studying full time. It’s been the best career move for me.”
Larissa Patterson (19) attended Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington, attained three A levels and wrote to George F White earlier this year, asking if she could do voluntary work experience on the days she wasn’t working for her previous employer. She impressed the company so much that they created an apprenticeship position for her and she is now training for a Level 2 NVQ in the Sale of Residential Property.
Larissa says: “Having developed an interest in the property market, I decided to pursue a career in the property sector. Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for a young person to gain experience and transferable skills whilst earning a wage. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my role and hope to progress within George F. White.”
Karen Park, People Manager at George F White says: “As a business, we have found the apprenticeship scheme to be a fantastic way of finding bright and enthusiastic young people to work for us. Our apprentices get a very good start in the working world as Aaron and Larissa can demonstrate. We are looking to take on a two more Apprentices, one in Northumberland and the other in County Durham both as office juniors. This would ideally suit someone who is interested in property and who wishes to pursue a career in Business Administration.”
