200 new homes, including 50 affordable homes, have been granted planning permission by North Tyneside Council. Working with the George F. White, Avant Homes has been given the go ahead for the development.
The George F. White Planning and Development team working with a project team including Pod Architecture produced a carefully considered and design led scheme that resolved issues including noise and access, resulting in a high quality, well designed and accessible development proposal.
Stephanie Linnell, a Senior Planning Consultant at George F White, said: “Despite a number of technical objections and the challenging nature of the site, the planning team worked closely with North Tyneside Council to secure a positive outcome informed by technical reports and utilising bespoke solutions which will result in the delivery of high quality homes on the site by Avant.”
The application for 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes is close to major transport routes and is accessible to the centre of Newcastle. The development will deliver significant highways improvements including the widening of the west bound A1056 to two lanes where it joins the Weetslade roundabout and providing two new laybys with bus stops and shelters. In addition, residents will have direct access to the adjoining waggonways and public rights of way to the surrounding areas, including Weetslade Country Park.
