The Area
This detached property with attached cottage stands majestically in the centre of the picturesque Norman hamlet of Callaly. The property lies 9 miles west of the market town of Alnwick. It is easily reached by the A697 trunk road which passes at the Bridge of Aln within 3 miles of Callaly. This junction is 19 miles from Morpeth and 32 miles from Newcastle. The Northumbrian coast is as close as 16 miles away. Short distances from Callaly are numerous villages with public houses/restaurants, golf courses, churches and schools. Approx. 6 miles away is the historic town of Rothbury which boasts a new hospital and excellent medical centre. It has many annual attractions, in particular the Annual Music Festival and the Vintage Rally.

The Property
The main access to the house is from the large courtyard at the rear via an entrance porch with large display windows and tiled roof. This leads to the hallway adjoining the ground floor WC and cloaks cupboard. The lounge is bright and spacious with an open fireplace and views over the garden. The ceiling rose and ‘Acanthus’ coving enhances this room and are fitted throughout the downstairs reception rooms and hallway. French doors lead from here into the garden room with tiled roof and wood double glazed windows and doors to the courtyard and gardens. With two radiators this enables the room to be used throughout the year. There is a charming sitting room with window overlooking the centre of the front garden and a cast iron fireplace with hand painted tiled hearth. The dining room can be entered from the lounge but is currently utilised as a ground floor bedroom and is well proportioned with a decorative original fireplace and storage cupboard. The fabulous kitchen/diner has a range of fitted wall and base units, roll top work surfaces and sink unit. There is an integrated fridge and dishwasher and an oil fired Rayburn cooker which also heats water for the kitchen. A door leads from here to an archway giving separate access to the one bedroom cottage. There is a separate breakfasting kitchen in the main part of the house which has recently been renovated to a high standard. The first floor landing leads to five double bedrooms, two bathrooms and walk in wardrobe. Bedrooms one, two and three have cast iron fireplaces with hand painted hearths. The cottage is a charming one bedroom addition to the main house which is currently used as a holiday let. It could also work well as a home office.
