Land at Swinhope Head is situated in Upper Weardale with direct road frontage onto a public highway linking the dales village of Westgate with Newbiggin, in Teesdale. The land extends to approximately 202.42 Hectares (500.18 Acres) of moorland and enclosed rough grazing which has road frontage. There is also a stone barn which is situated on the roadside.
Land at Swinhope Head comprises of 148.55 Hectares (367.07 Acres) of designated moorland, along with 53.87 Hectares (133.11 Acres) of enclosed rough grazing which is designated as Severely Disadvantaged (SDA).
Higher Level Stewardship
The land is subject to a Higher Level Stewardship Agreement (HLS) which is due to expire on the 30 April 2022. A copy of the HLS Agreement is available upon request.
Basic Payment Scheme
The vendor has claimed Basic Payment Scheme for the 2020 scheme year, therefore the purchaser(s) will be required to sign an indemnification that they will maintain the land in good agricultural and environmental condition and follow the rules of Basic Payment Scheme and Cross Compliance Regulations. Further to this indemnification, the vendor will hold the purchaser(s) liable should the vendor be penalised for any breach of Cross Compliance. 140.82 SDA Moorland and 53.86 SDA Basic Payment Scheme Entitlements are included with the sale.
