The Area
The Hermitage is situated between the villages of Ovingham and Wylam in the Tyne Valley area of Northumberland, immediately west of Newcastle upon Tyne. Ovingham has two schools, providing education to the age of 13.

For the commuter the A68 and A1 (M) provide links throughout the region and the east coast mainline railway station and Newcastle international airport offer further communications with the rest of the country.
