Senior rural surveyor joins North Yorkshire office
Chartered Surveyor Edward Hewetson BSc, MRICS is pleased to be closer to his northern roots after working as a rural surveyor for Bidwells in Norfolk for nine years.
Edward, 34, who is from a rural background in Cumbria, will be joining George F White Chartered Surveyors in their Bedale office in September.
He will be working with partners Nigel Foster and Kevin Guy and will be specifically in charge of developing clients’ strategic business needs throughout North Yorkshire. This will involve working closely with the existing team to develop the range of rural professional work in North Yorkshire; advising on rural business projects, dealing with valuation work and maximising value for clients through the planning system.
George F White is well known regionally for having a positive impact on businesses; converting ideas into reality; delivering effective tax structures, budgets and funding; formulating business strategies and restructuring partnerships.
With over twelve years of experience in this field, Edward is well versed in providing practical solutions in addition to his core skills of valuing and appraising your assets. He will also have to hand the resource of George F White’s specialist multi-disciplinary teams.
Edward believes one of the biggest challenges facing farmers, landowners and people living and working in the countryside today is adaptation. He says: “The ability to farm efficiently while keeping a close ear to the ground for ever-changing opportunities through changing local and national political objectives, tourism or even climate change – is key to success. This could be anything from a possible new venture arising from environmental stewardship, a renewable energy opportunity, a unique visitor attraction, or a scheme that has come about through the changing planning system. I’ll be based in George F White’s North Yorkshire office helping people to maximise these opportunities, advising on the elephant traps and ensuring a more sustainable and profitable business for clients.
He adds: “I’m delighted to be joining George F White. Not only is it the largest independent firm of Chartered Surveyors in the North it’s also a go-ahead business with a dynamic outlook and a great reputation.”
Edward is moving to Skeeby near Richmond with his wife Harriet, a landscape designer and their young son this month. When he’s not working, he’s looking forward to getting to know people in the local area and also indulging his passion for countryside pursuits, golf and cooking.
