Strong Growth in Specialist Areas
2016 has already been challenging but immensely rewarding to our land, business and property consultancy as we get closer to the half way mark of the year. Diversification and growth in specialist services has been a key part of our business strategy and the fruits of our labour are really starting to pay off.
Bespoke areas of the business that we have seen consistent strong growth in are planning and development, architecture, estate management and farm sales. The planning and development team has grown its services quite considerably over the last few years.
The team has grown organically and doubled in size to include a number of planning and development specialists such as surveyors and architects. They’ve worked hard to diversify themselves from George F. White’s traditional rural client base to break into the urban market, which is a radical shift for our business. For example, they are now working on renewable energy projects for clients and also working with a number of the UK’s largest housebuilders. Providing services from Scotland to Lincolnshire the teams key objective now is to grow the team further to continue to diversify services so that we can adapt to clients’ differing needs. For example, we have brought architects in-house as a response to client feedback that they would prefer a one-stop shop that is able to manage their bespoke project from start to finish.
Estate management and farm sales is another area of strong growth for the business. We are seeing land and farms come to the market for a variety of reasons including retirement and business re-structuring. Desirable and high quality land farms and sporting estates are in demand both locally and nationally and we expect prices to remain high on the back of strong demand.
A key business priority is to continue to grow and diversify our specialist service areas and ensure the teams within them are adequately supported by the business to do their job effectively. One way we do is this is through our established apprenticeship scheme that is focused on providing new and necessary skills to young employees, to help them grow and progress within the organisation. We are currently looking to take on new apprentices to help support the service areas that are currently experiencing strong growth – it would be great to source local talent.
